Middle East Rule of Law Forum: Comparative Commercial Law & International Legal Talent Development concluded successfully at Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL) on April 18th. The forum was hosted by SWUPL, co-organized by the School of Civil and Commercial Law and the Center for Middle Eastern Legal Studies, and jointly supported by Beijing Dacheng Law Offices, Winson Law Firm's Egypt Office, and The Egyptian Law Firm, providing a strong foundation for the forum's international and professional proceedings.
The forum featured deep participation from Egypt's most prestigious universities. Experts from leading Middle Eastern institutions, including Benha University (Egypt), King Abdulaziz University (Saudi Arabia), Qatar University, Lusail University (Qatar), and the University of Birmingham Dubai Campus (UAE), gathered alongside scholars from renowned Chinese universities such as Tsinghua University, China University of Political Science and Law, and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. Together, they engaged in in-depth discussions on topics spanning Middle Eastern commercial law, commercial arbitration, legal talent development, and the legal frameworks supporting Chinese enterprises expanding overseas.
At this landmark gathering, bringing together legal experts, arbitration institution representatives, and corporate legal counsel from China, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and beyond, Winson Law Firm participated both as a delegate and a key supporting partner. The firm engaged in in-depth discussions with guests on Middle Eastern commercial law and cross-border dispute resolution, helping to build an effective communication platform for Chinese enterprises expanding into the Middle East.

Representatives from ZTE and Donghua Engineering delivered dedicated presentations at the forum, jointly exploring practical issues around compliance and dispute resolution for Chinese companies entering the Middle Eastern market.
In the forum's "Judiciary and Arbitration" session, Winson Law Firm Partner and Egypt Office Director GongpuXiang delivered a keynote address titled "Dispute Resolution Pathways for Chinese Enterprises Entering the Middle East." He systematically outlined the most common types of disputes arising from Chinese investments in the Middle East, covering key issues such as contract performance, investment protection, and cross-border enforcement. He emphasized that "the Middle East is not a place of unclear rules, but rather one of highly localized rules. Companies that rely solely on template contracts will often find themselves ill-equipped to manage dispute risks, a comprehensive dispute resolution framework must be established before any transaction is entered into."
In addition, Eslam, an attorney at Winson Law Firm's Egypt Office, drew on Egyptian legal practice to share specific case studies and hands-on experience in cross-border investment and dispute handling.
Beyond the keynote presentations, Winson Law Firm's representatives also participated in the "International Law Youth Forum" and multiple roundtable discussions, engaging with university scholars, law firms, and international legal institutions on topics including Middle East and North Africa (MENA) legal talent development, cross-border compliance framework building, and Islamic finance law.
During the forum, Southwest University of Political Science and Law officially inaugurated its Center for Middle Eastern Legal Studies.
