Cross-Border IP Enforcement Victory: Representing a Global TSA Lock Leader in China

Representing a Global TSA Lock Leader in China Trademark Infringement Case

We represented Travel Sentry Inc. (U.S.), the global standard-setter of the TSA luggage lock system, in a trademark infringement dispute against a Chinese luggage manufacturer and e-commerce operator. The defendant used counterfeit locks bearing our client’s well-known “Red Diamond” logo on its own-brand luggage and continued the infringing activities even after repeated platform complaints.

We successfully overcame the defendant’s key defense that “the lock is only a component, not an independent product.” We proved that the unauthorized use of the registered trademark on luggage locks was likely to cause confusion among consumers and constituted trademark infringement under Chinese law. We also preserved evidence through notarized online purchases and platform complaint records to establish the defendant’s malicious intent.

A Beijing court ruled in favor of our client and ordered the defendant to cease all infringing acts and pay compensation totaling RMB 310,000, including economic loss and reasonable enforcement costs.

This case demonstrates our strong capability to handle cross-border intellectual property disputes, overcome tricky defenses in component-related infringement matters, and deliver enforceable court victories for foreign rights holders in China.
